Somatic Experiencing

I am currently enrolled in the three-year Somatic Experiencing Professional Training program, with a goal of achieving full certification by Summer/Fall of 2026. During my training, I have been incorporating fundamental SE techniques into my healing sessions where appropriate, to help my clients address physical and emotional trauma, overwhelm, stress-related conditions, and PTSD.

Developed by renowned psychologist Peter Levine, Somatic Experiencing® (SE)™ is a powerful psychobiological approach that works by supporting the physical release of accumulated energy from stressful events. Through SE, we can learn to resolve unresolved stressors in the body and complete the discharge process that was interrupted at the time of the traumatic event.

Unlike talk therapy, SE is a body-based form of self-discovery that encourages clients to become more present in their body and notice sensations without needing to retell or relive the traumatic event. As a practitioner, I work with clients verbally and/or through light touch to facilitate physical nervous system responses, gradually increasing their tolerance for difficult bodily sensations and suppressed emotions. This process can help restore equilibrium and promote overall health.

SE can be beneficial for addressing a wide range of conditions, including acute, chronic, developmental, and medical stress and trauma, PTSD, pain, anxiety and mood disruption, fatigue, fibromyalgia and autoimmune disruption, injury, and attachment and relational disruption. If you're interested in exploring how SE can help you, please don't hesitate to reach out.
